Description
The monument was erected in 1836 and the area of Battle Bridge was subsequently re-named King's Cross
following the destruction in 1703 of Henry Winstanley's first version
and the righthand cartoon shows the captain of one being warmly welcomed by Britannia
at the junction of Battersea High Street and Bridge Road West (later known as Westbridge Road)
