Surely it is Nellie Leora, mother to Gardner (I take that as a G), whose photograph is framed with wreath of braided threads at the center of chair back captured seated in a Victorian wicker chair, with book open in her hands, and very intense gaze! The rest of the chair seems all about Gardner, who embroidered the date on one side, 1914; her own age on the other, 24; and her name front and center,
